OVERALL CANCER INCIDENCE PER 100,000 (*CR)
A total of 21,773 cancer cases were diagnosed among Malaysians in Peninsular Malaysia in the year 2006 and registered in the National Cancer Registry. It comprises of 9,974 males and 11,799 females.
The Age Standardised Incidence Rate (ASR) for all cancers in the year 2006 regardless of sex was 131.3 per 100,000. and the five most common cancer among population of Peninsular Malaysia in 2006 were breast, colorectal, lung, cervix and nasopharynx.
In 2006, Liver Cancer is ranked 6th overall, 5th among males and 9th among females in Peninsular Malaysia. There were a total of 793 2006 cases registered with NCR and comprises of 568 males and 225 females. The Age Standardised Incidence Rate calculated was 4,9 per 100,000 for both sexes and for males and females were 7.2 and 2.7 per 100,000 population respectively..

The number of new cancer cases (incidence cases) observed in the population during the defined period divided by the number of population at risk at the same period. It is usually expressed per 100,000.
VARIATION IN LIVER CANCER INCIDENCE PER 100,000 (CR)
Cancer seems to be predominant among Chinese as compared to Malay and Indian. The most frequent liver cancers incidence occurs in older age group (50 years old and above) and were predominant among men.
